What does certification on external escape routes, VVCP1, mean?
When the "evacuation plan" indicates external doors leading to escape routes" they must necessarily be marked EC and certified VVCP1 (these activities are subject to controls by the Fire Brigade and the emission of fire protection certificates).
Warning, non-compliance with the certificate “VVCP1” for external doors onto escape routes, may result in refusal by competent authorities to allow access to the structure in question.
In some cases there are some structures that, even though they are not obliged to have their own evauation plan and/or are not subject to controls by the Fire Brigade, the customer still requires a "certificate of escape routes".
What is the difference between the EC mark of common doors and windows and that of an external door for an escape route?
- For common balcony doors the EC mark is applied according to the "control and assessment system of the performance ratio" (VVCP) type 3: it simply includes:
- the elaboration of a "factory production control" (FPC);
- the "initial type tests" (ITT) in cascading (granted by the supplier) or carried out by an established authority.
- For external doors to escape routes, the VVCP system is type 1, much more "demanding" than type 3, it includes:
- the elaboration of a "factory production control" (FPC);
- the "initial type tests" (ITT) in cascading (granted by the supplier) or carried out by an established authority;
+
- initial factory inspection and FPC inspection by an established authority;
- constant surveillance by an established authority;
- tests on samples taken from the factory
Warning: the installation of a simple emergency push bar handles or commono EC marking does not represent a certified escape route door.
NURITH is a company working towards innovation and safety and is currently able to offer certified doors for escape routes. Apart from normal internal tests, every year the IFT of Rosenheim carries out tests on NURITH sample doors.
